At Senator Hotels & Resorts we are increasingly aware of climate change, environment issues and sustainability and we try to contribute to this cause by taking different measures every year.
In 2022 we have taken some initiatives like the installation of solar panels at some hotels, the progressive reduction of disposable plastic cups at our holiday hotels or the implementation of a Zero Waste policy at Oasys MiniHollywood, among others.
This time we want to highlight an initiative through which we have helped to plant almost 500 trees around the world —and without even noticing it. Thanks to our internet searches on Ecosia we have managed to plant 496 trees on those areas where they are needed most.
WHAT IS ECOSIA AND WHY DOES IT HELP TO PLANT TREES?
Ecosia is a search engine like Google, Firefox or Microsoft Edge, but with the difference that it plants trees based on the number of searches you have made on it. The amount of searches it takes to plant a tree varies, depending on when you search, where you search from, and what you search for. For example, in Germany a person using Ecosia on their laptop takes approximately 50 searches to plant a tree.
At Senator Hotels & Resorts we have made around 24,000 searches from September to December and our trees have been already planted in the United Kingdom, United States, France and other places where they are needed most.
